The Citizen Patrol was created in January of 1985 with volunteers who are the "Eyes & Ears" of the Miami Shores Police Department. The Miami Shores Police Department will host Neighborhood Watch Meetings for residents to provide crime prevention tips. Block Captains are the coordinator's contact for each block to facilitate the delivery of information concerning crime pattern and trends. The Neighborhood Watch Program was started in April 1980 in conjunction with the Miami Shores Police Department.
